Hochiminh city overview
Vietnam is one of three Indochina coutries and Vietnam
belongs to South East Asia. Ho Chi Minh city Vietnam was the capital of the
French protectorate of Cochinchina (1862–1954) and of South Vietnam
(1954–1975). The city lies along the Saigon River to the north of the Mekong
River delta, about 50 miles (80 km) from the South China Sea. The commercial
center of Cho Lon lies immediately west of Ho Chi Minh City.

Ho Chi Minh City (still called now common with the old name
Saigon) is Vietnam's largest city in terms of population size and level of
urbanization, as well as economic is the first and is one of the cultural
centers of Vietnam. Education is

Nguyen Huu Canh, real name is Nguyen Huu Thanh, a famous
general of Lord Nguyen Phuc Chu. He is considered the establishment of the
Vietnamese sovereignty in the land of Saigon-Gia Dinh in 1698.
Currently, the city of Ho Chi Minh City is centrally along
with the capital Hanoi is a special grade of Vietnam.
This area was originally known as Prey Nokor, the city then
formed through the exploration of the South Vietnam in the Nguyen Dynasty.
In 1698, Lord Nguyen Huu Canh established Gia Dinh phu, made
the birth of the city.
When the French in
Indochina, the purpose is serving the colonial mining city. Saigon was established and quickly grew, becoming one of the most important urban
Vietnam, was known as the Pearl of the Far East .

Saigon was the capital of the Union Indochine Francaise in
period 1887-1901.
In 1949, Saigon became the capital of Vietnam - a federal
polity of Indochina and later
the capital of the Republic of Vietnam.
Since then, this magnificent city became one of the most important urban centers of Southeast Asia.
After the collapse of South Vietnam in the event April 30,
1975, the territory of Vietnam was completely unified.
July 2, 1976, Saigon was renamed to "Ho Chi Minh City" by the National Assembly of reunified Vietnam, under the name
of the great president of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
